Teaching
Undergraduate studies at the Department of Biology and Environment are part of the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the University of Haifa.
Classes take place at the Oranim Campus, near Kiryat Tivon.
Our B.Sc. degree holders may continue their academic education in graduate studies in Biology, Medicine, and Veterinary Medicine, in Israel and abroad. It is possible to combine our B.Sc. studies with science education studies. Graduates of this program are awarded a teacher’s certificate from Israel’s Ministry of Education, which qualifies them to teach science in middle-schools and biology in high schools.
- Classes cover a variety of subjects in molecular biology, microbiology, genetics, cell biology, endocrinology, physiology, ecology, and conservation biology. Studies combine frontal classes with labs and field excursions.
- The department emphasizes the involvement of students in research, via participation in weekly seminars presented by prominent Israeli scientists, and through active participation in ongoing research projects by faculty members.
- The department has long been involved in outreach activities related to nature conservation, and places a special emphasis on research activities that expand our understanding of humanity’s effect on our environment.
