Dr. Yehonatan Sharabi

Senior Lecturer

I am an environmental microbiologist. The research in my lab mainly focus on the ecology of microbial pathogens, their interactions with other microorganisms in their natural environments and their impact on human health. We primarily study the ecology of waterborne pathogenic Legionella spp. within drinking water systems. For these ends, we are developing and utilizing bacterial risk assessment models in order to quantify the human health effects induced by their presence. In addition, we study the prevalence of pathogenic Brucella melitensis substrains in patients, comparing their virulence, resistance to different antibiotics and their implications on different populations.
